The conference theme and programming reflect the world in which we now live – disrupted, challenged and ripe with potential. Great strategic and creative thinking behind pivoting to a virtual event and the promotions that are planned, which started with the email members received with a link to the ICON 2020 landing page.

You’ll note a pithy call to action: Be there … no matter where you are in the world, underscoring the ease of access to ICON – without the stress, anxiety and expense of travel and lodging. Look for more clever CTAs, including another teaser: PRSA ICON 2020 – Coming soon to a device near you. 

Our first-ever fully virtual ICON offers us the opportunity to engage even further with international communicators – who now can experience ICON from their home or no matter where they are in the world.

The landing page features the ICON logo and theme, and highlights three of our marquee speakers: 

  • Carolynn Johnson, CEO, DiversityInc Media
  • Lata Knott, leader of The First Amendment Center at The Freedom Forum
  • Jon Meacham, respected presidential historian, author and political commentator

Future promotional materials will feature our other top-notch speakers addressing disinformation, the pandemic and voting rights. 

Kudos and thanks to the fantastic PRSA staff – particularly Karla Voth, who leads events; and Maureen Walsh, our new Chief Marketing Officer; and, of course, Phil Bonaventura, whose counsel and support are invaluable. Along with Galloway, these leaders have deftly navigated ICON challenges and now turn their focus to creating a world-class virtual experience – ripe with possibility.
