Melissa Morante, 2021 PRSA Palm Beach PresidentIt’s hard to believe we’re approaching the half-way point of 2021 already. The rapid increase in the number of vaccines being given makes me increasingly optimistic that we may be able to have some in-person programming in the back half of this year. We are not yet prepared to make that call but we will continue to watch what’s happening and determine if and when it may be safe to do so.

I don’t know about all of you but I am feeling some Zoom fatigue. Which is why I am especially excited for what’s coming up on May 13th. Luke Goetting, an award-winning presentation specialist and director of Puffingston Presentations - a presentation agency based in Austin, Texas – will bring us his “Virtual Revolution” – How to Maximize Your Impact in 2021 Online Events and Meetings with a Planned Presence, Dynamic Content & Interactive Broadcasts. In 2020, communications professionals had to quickly adjust to virtual meetings – getting by with whatever workarounds they could manage. In 2021, communicators like you can take the lead and thrive by crafting highly memorable virtual experiences featuring high-impact speaker strategies, dynamic content and interactivity techniques. Stay tuned for registration information coming to you via email.

April is APR month and the Sunshine District is offering up a FREE APR information session on Tuesday, April 27th from 3:00pm-4:00pm. During the session you will learn the value of APR and the simple steps to beginning the process to obtain your own Accreditation in Public Relations designation. If you have any questions about the session or still want to register please reach out to Annabel Beyra at [email protected].

Thank you to those that participated in the focus groups earlier this month. For those that don’t know, we have been working with a group of students at Palm Beach Atlantic University as part of our PRSSA initiative. The students have formed an “agency” and have been working to help us increase our membership. We will receive the final report and results at the end of this month.

Lastly, please continue to share programming ideas, feedback, nominees for Member Spotlights as well as any Campaign Spotlights you wish to highlight.
